Red face Filter housing
Brand: General Electric
Age: 5 - 10 years

I noticed water running out of the filter housing inside my refrigerator yesterday. I bought a new filter, and when installing, I noticed the housing it self was cracked in several places. I order a new housing and my question is....is replacing it a job that I can do ? Any hints on installing the new parts? thanks

Can you please supply your model number?

It is found inside the fridge section on a tag with your serial number.

You should be able to install this without any problems.

There are two screws and the water line.

Don't forget to turn your water off before you start.

Are the water lines screwed on? there seems to be a water line in and one out...and also, the light that indicates the filter status is not working...will it come back on when I change the housing?

It looks like your lines are held on with clamps.

The light should indicate that the unit is working.
