Default Evaporator in Freezer won't run...help
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GTS22IBMARCC
Age: 5 - 10 years

As the title suggests the fan in the freezer won't run, not allowing cooling to the frig section below. I purchased a new fan from GE and installed it. The fan still doesn't run.

Don't know what to do... I'm out of a refrigerator with children.

The fan may not run if it is in defrost mode or stuck in defrost.

Defective door switches can prevent it from running.

New fan could be defective or heaven forbid installed wrong.

Thank you for your response... but there's only one way to install the fan and that's properly. As far as defrost mode... [which I seen that used alot around here on this forum], this issue has been progressing throughout a couple of months, before it decided to find another job. All parts were ordered directly from GE and the chances of them shipping a defective fan is very slim. I will try the link you posted above and test the fan. I will post the results of my findings. Oh! BTW, I have discovered that GE had an issue with the electronic mb a couple years back where this one guy had to install three of these in one year time. Now, I have one of those ordered and being shipped to me.

Be back with results.

Edited... wrong fan shown. My fan is connected by four "hard-wired" wires.

Edit#2... I got a 6000 ohm reading with all connections. A comfortably high resistance, wouldn't you say?
