Default Evaporator fan repair
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: TBX18BUB
Age: More than 10 years

hi,
i replaced a faulty evaporator motor in my old ge fridge. i slid the fan propellor off the old motor and i put it on the new one. however, when the fan is running the propellor flies off the end of it. the c-clip on the propellor part is still there. in ignorant desparation, here's what i've done so far:
1. i changed the hookups thinking maybe the fan was blowing the wrong way.
2. i put the freezer back together, wondering if the back wall held the fan on the motor.
3. put the fan back on the old-bad-motor, it's really hard to pull off. when i then put it back on the new motor, it's really easy to pull off.
any suggestions will be appreciated,
thank you,
katherine

Maybe you could take the c-clip with you to lowes, appliance parts, etc. and find one with same size hole but bigger on the outside. Big enough to hold yours on.

You may could use a larger washer with the c-clip you have.

Maybe a screw clamp on the shaft will hold it.

Use your imagine and what you have .

thanks to all who responded!
i put some crazy glue in the fan blade hole, put it on the shaft, then put a thin strip of duct tape around shaft just for good measure.
it's working!
thanks again,
katherine
