Default Emitter & receiver icemaker control boards bad?
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: ksrg25fkwh03
Age: 1 - 4 years

I guess it was about time for something to break . We have been having weird problems with our icemaker for some time. Here are some of the symptoms:

1) The water addition to the tray is doing wierd things. I think sometimes it adds too much water and it overflows the tray and then flows over the side of the tray into the freezer compartment. It freezes on different places on the interior of the top of the freezer.

2) The ice maker continues to make ice even when the bucket is full.

I believe the overflowing ice issue is clearly related to the emitter and the receiver. Is there any way to test these parts? Is the water addition issue related to the emitter and receiver, or do I have two separate problems? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Late breaking additional fact: I took the emitter and receiver out (to get part numbers, etc.) and when I put it back in the emitter began blinking like normal. I should have mentioned before that I have not noticed the emitter blinking of late, but when I put the part back in - it began to blink. Shut the freezer, opened it back up a few minutes later and the emitter is no longer blinking again!

Wierd - I would think it would either work, or not?????
