Default Elements & Oven quit
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JB960W0B1WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

On Thanksgiving morning the radiant top and oven were working. At the end of Breakfast they quit. The clock, oven settng temp, etc. display still works. I reset the circuit breaker. When I turn on the element, it immediately clicks and the light on the panel flashes. The oven shows all signs of working except that it doesn't heat anything either.

I had the control panel replaced 4 years ago with the improved Sanyo model.
I would appreciate any help, especially if we can cook the turkey today!!!

You have a wire that is off somewhere in the stove causing a short circuit.

You will have to unplug the stove and see where it is.

Here is a link to your range model JB960WB1WW.

I'm not sure that makes since. Since I didn't move the range, it worked in the morning... how can a wire come loose. I must not understand something.

The wire may have burnt off.

The wire can become loose after time, this will cause them to get hot and burn off.

It turns out the circuit breaker failed. It was a Murray 40/30 quad.
I replaced that. Now only the rear burner is not working. Any advice on how to get that one working?

I should mention the left hand radiant element contains three sub elements. A front round element, a bridge element and a rear round element. Only the rear round element is not working.

It may be the switch that is faulty or it could be the burner.

The only way to find out is to check it with a meter.
