Default Door seals don't seem to..seal
Brand: Amana
Model Number: TN 22 AW
Age: 5 - 10 years

It does not seem that the seal around the refrigerator or freezer doors seem to seal properly.

Is there adjustments to make the doors close tighter or do these seals need to be replaced?

My wife is about to throw her hands up and buy and new refrigerator, but I have to think there is a way to make things work without spending all the money for a new one!

Please help!!

Do the doors close normally, by them self. If the door closing cams at the bottom hinge are broken or worn, it can cause the doors to be misaligned and not shut properly. Did it happen over time or all of a sudden. Unless the gaskets are deformed, torn or pulled loose they should be ok.

The doors do not close on their own, they have to be pushed closed.

The seals were working fine before we moved to our new house, which is when they started leaking.

Any idea on my ice maker question in my other post? Do you think it is an inlet valve that is not working properly causing water to drip from the ice maker?

I think your door hinges are worn into. Go here to try and find a model number. No Appliance Model or Part 'TN 22 AW' Found

Here is a link to your parts breakdown, I think
TN22AW Parts List

You hve to search TN22AW
The search engine on this site is not very forgiving
It could use upgrading

Leave a space in the Model, it will not find it
Leave a . in a Kenmore Model, it will not find it
Type a O instead of a zero, it will not find it

Make sure there is nothing blocking the door closing. Check all food items, drawers, shelfs, etc. Check closely. If not open the door for a minute then close for a minute. Open again and the door should be harder to pull open. If not you have a bad seal. You can check by pulling a dollar bill through the gasket. If it's easy to pull through then thats where your gasket is weak. Gaskets almost never fail...
