Default Door Rust
Brand: KitchenAid
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have rust developing under the ice/water dispenser of my refrig. I assume that water is leaking but I see no evidence of this other than rust. Where could the water be coming from?

If the dispenser was leaking you would see water on the floor.

It is like just the metal that was used when the fridge was manufactured.

so how do I stop or fix it. I can not imagine that a few year old refrig should have rust under the dispeser and Kitchenaid would agree that this is normal? There has to be something going on?

Just a guess but if there is cold air leaking around the area in could be condensing out of sight and rusting.

So how do I test this or correct it. Do you know how the front cover comes off to explore this?

The front of the dispenser should have to slots in it along the bottom edge.

Pry out and it will snap off and then push up and lift it off.

I will need your model number to tell you if the door will come apart.

The model number can be found on a tag on the inside of the fridge section with the serial number.

The model number is ksrs25qfwh00. I have tried to pull the front piece off but it felt like it was glued or 2 sided taped on? It did not feel it was a snap-on piece. Please advise how it comes off? How to fix the leak? And is the water dispenser switch and easy fix? The water dispenser switch is bad.

The trim is snap on at the bottom as I said before and then you slid it up and of the tabs.

Your door has what is called a foamed in place liner which means the door does not come apart.

Once you have the trim around the dispenser off you will be able to fix or replace the switch with ease.

Here is a link to your fridge model ksrs25qfwh00.
