Default Door opens and water flows
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 106.56542400
Age: 1 - 4 years

We have a Kenmore 106.56542400 side by side refrigerator/freezer. When we open the refrigerator door, the water dispenser on the freezer door, runs and water flows out. When we close the refrigerator door, the water dispenser stops the flow of water. Otherwise, the water and ice dispensers work fine. Any help or insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wow! Weired . The door switch on the freezer door stops the water from running when it's opened. I haven't heard of the fridge door affecting it in any way.

Has there been any work done on this fridge especially under it. Do the lights work the way they are supposed to. On Off etc.

No there has not been any work done lately. The lights do work the way they are supposed to. When you hold down the refrigerator light switch, with the door open, the water stops. If you let go of the light switch with the refrigerator door open, the water from the dispenser flows.

Usually when things go weird it turns out to be the fancy electronics.

Check the wiring from unit to front door. It's possible that when you open door a wire is shorting turning on the water. PL
