Unhappy Door Leaking @ lower Hinge when water activated
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: ED5CHQXKQ00
Age: 5 - 10 years

Daughter moved - Movers dropped off Side-by-side, ref/frzr for us. They unhinged feezer door to get it into kitchen - reattached door. Hooked it up water and left. Makes ice and water comes out of despinser. Water also comes out of door at lower hinge area soon after pulling out full glass of water. Leak stops thereafter and dries up as long as no indoor water is used. Seems to me they broke hose - How do I replace it - if thats the problem. How do I remove ice/water dispenser trim, ect. TKS

The likely spot for damage to have occurred is where the water line goes into the door at the bottom. There may be enough slack hose there to inspect a little of it.
Also they took the line apart at a junction just under the door behind the condenser grill on the front. Make sure it's tightened good. If it's leaking up at the dispenser you may can examine a little of it by taking the dispenser apart. Remove the trim by gently prying all the way around till it comes out exposing the screws. If you try to replace the entire section you may can connect the new one to the old one and pull it through by pulling the old one out.

Talking Leaking door repair

Just a thanks to the forum and "Woodchuck" for spurring me on. Heres how-Turned off water, took off trim on front using flate blade screwdrivers - Unplugged wiring harness and set trim aside. Pulled out front upper part by pushing two tabs on side and gently hinged it straight up, taping it to door with duct tape. Could then get to tubing for water dispenser. Unsnapped same, so that tubing was free. Opened door and removed grill. The new tubing was same inside diameter as old. Cut off end of artist brush, snipped old tubing, and inserted short length of wooden artist brush, so that I had a tight fit between old and new tubing. Sprayed exposed tubing (at door hinge on bottom) with WD40. Then carefully started gently pushing tubing up into door hinge. Pull out top of hose very gently (so temp splice won't pull apart) as you push hose up from bottom. Before long, the splice will appear and you'll be able to grasp it and pull without fear of messing up splice, since you have it out. Go back to the bottom and cut old hose about 3 inches from the old connector. You will then have 2 hoses of the same diameter, which you can then connect using the push in connector which comes with the replacement hose (you can but this from the forum sponsor at a reasonable price). Replace lower grill - take off duct tape and swing down electrics and rethread tubing into water dispenser arm. Reconect wiring from fron panel and replace it. Cut off excess tubing at watr control arm, turn on water and have a glass. ( Did This reply in detail as I had a tough time even getting a reply to my Problem until I hit this forum and Woodchuck - Thanks to both Paxx
