Is is necessary to take the door off of the refrigerator to install the door gasket. I am hesitant about damaging or not creating a tight seal if I put it on myself. How much would a repairman charge for installing the door gasket if I already have purchased one for an Amana refrigerator.

Can you please supply your model number?

The cost to install a door gasket will depend on the type of gasket.

If the door has the foamed in place type of gasket you can likely do it your self.

If the door gasket is one that is held on with screws it is hard to say what you will be charged.

With the type of gasket that is screwed on you do have to take the door off to install a new one.
