My just out of warranty GE Monogram Side by Side has a problem with the light in the ice/water dispenser. Thought it was a burned out bulb. Couldn't find the OEM bulb with the reflector top but replaced it with plain 4w appliance indicator bulb. Bulb filament glows only faintly when touch pad switch is depressed. Noticed the indicator light on the touch pad switch does not illuminate, however. Suspect switch behind touch pad or possibly lamp socket or wiring. Does this seem reasonable? Question how do I access the dispenser switch to trouble shoot and replace if needed?

GE has been of no help.

Have you noticed any other problem when you use the dispenser such as the light on the panel dimming or the fan in the freezer stopping.

If some of these thing are happening then the mother board at the back of the fridge will have to be replaced.

If there is a trim that goes around the dispenser it should push up and then slide to the side and come off.

Check be hind the drip tray for screws.
