Default Dirty Water
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: ksrs25qfwh00
Age: 5 - 10 years

I recently had some issues with my water dispenser on the front of my refrig. I have been able to fix the issues and everything seems to be running fine BUT the water does not come out clean. My guess is that over the month that it was not working mold grew in the water lines. Does anyone have any suggestions on cleaning these? I have tried to flush the lines but every once in a while little particals of mold/fungus come out. Please let me know if anyone has experienced and how do I correct. thanks.

The easiest to clean is the reservoir. Look behind the crispers in the fridge. You can take it out to clean if it's where the mold is coming from.

Do you know how this comes apart? Or can you refer me to where I can find how to take apart?

You can see part 31 in this diagram. Two screws hold it in place the water lines will be either quick release or a threaded joint.

No diagram attached? I tried to take apart and could not remove the tubing. They are not quick release and don't seem to be threaded eith. Could these tubes be factory applied?

Diagram here---Whirlpool KSRS25QFWH00 Parts List

You can find couplings at an appliance parts store to put the line back together with if you cut it or maybe you can find the other end of the line on the back of unit an take off there.

It seems as though the connection points are under the unit or behind. I could not access them from behind. Any other suggestion to finding the connection points. I prefer not cutting the lines and replairing.

Any other suggestions on getting this reservoir removed without cutting the lines?

The two connections for your reservoir or at your door and at the water valve in the back of the product. To access the door connection you need to pull off your grill, it should pull straight out and then undo the quick connect fitting by pushing IN the blue collet and pulling out on the tube. If the tube is stuck, it is better to push harder on the collet than it is to pull harder on the tube. Pulling hard on the tube will just make things worse.

To get to the valve connection you need to pull your product away from the wall and remove the rear cover (about 10 screws). The Reservoir connection to the valve is the one that is running from the area around the compressor to the water valve. It will be the larger of the two tubes coming out of the water valve. The tube releases the same way. Push IN on the collet and pull the tube out. You may need to loosen the water valve to get a good grip on the tube. Be sure that you run water through your dispenser when you go to reconnect your water lines before you put the rear cover back on. The tube should slide into the fitting roughly 16mm and their should be ink marks showing you the insertion depth. Make sure that no water is leaking before re-attaching the rear cover.

Best of luck
