Could someone please tell me if part number 801 has the defrost timer built into it. I have replaced a burnt heating element and checked the thermistat in the freezer. I just dont want to spend 100 dollars without being sure that is where the timer is. The side by side is a GSS22WGMC BB General electric. Is there a problem to be careful of when replacing this part I would appreciate finding out about this from someone. I think Im right, and I have worked on a lot of problems, but this is the first time I have never been able to find the defrost timer in a freezer. thanks Man2th

In most of the new units they now have the evaporative defrost control. It senses when to defrost based on how many times and for how long the door is opened. It's more energy efficient but there does seem to be lots of problems with the board.
Anyway my answer is yes.

Replaced the part it was easy. they build the boards a little different. I still worry about the defrosting. it doesnt seem to be frosting up as fast. I would like to catch it in defrost so I will know for sure. If im right it only has one heating element at the botom of evaporator coil thanks for the help.
