Default Defrost problem
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: frs23bh5cq1
Age: 1 - 4 years

My frigidaire has a problem with the automatic defrost system.
I replaced the ADC (defrost timer) but didn't fix the problem. Today, I open the bottom part of the freezer section and did the following:

I manually activated the defrost by clicking the door switch 5 times.
I checked two wires that connect to the heater element with multi-meter and it shows about 100v goes into the heater element so I assume the defrost thermostat is ok. But the heater element doesn't get heat up.

I tested continuity of the heater element with multi-meter and it shows continuity ok. At this point, I think it shoud heat up and melt the frost that's been built up but it does not heat up.

Is it still be a bad heater element even though the continuity test shows ok?

Thank you for your help!

When you did the continuity test did you have the element disconnected from the thermostat?

What is the resistance reading of the heater?

The resistance should be 30 ohms.

Here is a link to your fridge model frs23bh5cq1.
