I have the issue where the defrost drain freezes over and i clean it out and it seems that fix only lasts for around a month. when i pour water down it after i clean the water flows nice and quick. Any ideas on how to put and end to this?

It may be that the water is slowly freezing at the top of the hole and finally stops it up. Some freezers have a heater in the drain. I've heard you can take a bare copper wire and wrap it around a part of the defrost heater area that gets warm and stick the other end down the drain a couple of inches. The heat transfers down the wire melting the ice or not letting it form.

Now that is a good idea I will certainly look into it. My worry more than that even is that the surface doesnt look even enough to allow water to drain down. im starting to wonder if its not draining on its own at all. that would explain why this freezes up to often

Does it drain when you pour water into the trough where the drain is. It may also drain better if your can pull the drain tube from the bottom end and maybe get some slack out of it.

Yeah when its not frozen over (as it is currently) if i were to pour water down it would funnel out the bottom into the tray very quickly.
