Default Daily water puddles
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: CSX 22DMD
Age: 5 - 10 years

Can small daily water puddles result from worn door gaskets? They get very warm and obviously need replacement. Must keep on highest setting to keep things cold. The cost for just the fresh food side gasket is $99 -$120. Before doing this I would appreciate some trouble shooting assistance from an expert. It seems that a bad seal might cause excessive condensation and not enough water is leaking to indicate a water line break. Thank you for any suggestions.

Is the water coming from the freezer side?

If it is the drain is likely block and the defrost water is coming out the door at the bottom.

The drain is located behind the back panel inside the freezer section.

The gasket will be warm for the line that runs between the two section to keep condensation from building up.

If the center strip is really hot that is an indication that the condenser coil are block with dust or pet hair or both and need to be vacuumed out.

Here is a link to your fridge model CSX22DMD.

Default Problem seems fixed

I had to do lots of vacuuming but the coils are clear and the air flow blockage was apparently the problem. I was very hesitant to buy a new gasket if I was going to have to replace the fridge. Your website is just terrific in my book. Thank you Sheila for some good experienced advice.

Default Followup report

Sheila, The puddles continued (freezer side) but after pulling the back off it was an easy fix. At the water valve solenoid the line to the ice maker (which comes on intermittently) was cracked. Evidently the solenoid gets warm because the tubing was only brittle where it was inserted. The parts diagrams you sent were immensely helpful. Thank you again! Rick (guzziman)
