Looks like the PBA Main Board solved the icing problem. That ice build up was a one time event. I had to call another repair company because I no longer had any confidence in the company that has strung me along for over 30 days. The new company came out any was very knowledgeable about Samsung and even came out with the service manual to read diagnostic codes by pressing a series of buttons on the frige control panel where you set the temperatures. He did not like the fact that a bimetal was installed where one was not designed to be installed at all. There is a thermistor that feeds the PBA with the temperture. A bimetal in this frige would only mask the problem by resetting itself if there was a major heater problem. He is going to order the thermofuse and return back to replace it.

I have learned more than I wanted to about refrigeration. Samsung should be more selective on who they refer you to as a qualified repair service. I don't think the first company had ever seen a Samsung before. The second company had to take a service course. I am happy that I can keep the frige and not go through the buying process again.

Anyone else out there with the frige warming and the freezer is ok, the PBA board might be the solution for you also.

Default Final Update

It has now been quite a few weeks and all is well. The PBA circuit board has solved the frige evaporator freezing problem causing the frige temperature to rise to 59 degrees.

One thing to note: The frige was at 22 degrees a few days ago and the milk was freezing up. Since this frige is controlled by a computer processor, it is subject to power glitches especially here in Florida. To resolve the situation, the power had to be removed for a few minutes to reset the electronics (reboot) and the temperature returned to the 38 degree setting on the front panel. Seems like there should be a power on reset for the electronics for short duration power losses.

Seems like this is a common malfunction with this refrigerator. The exact same thing is happening with my Samsung fridge as well,... coils freezing up, causing water leakage all over the floor. And it is ONLY 18 months old. I am so furious with this fridge that I would rather take a sledge hammer to it, instead of fixing it. But, like you Jay1028, I really can't afford a new fridge. Could I purchase this PBA curcuit board on my own and replace it on my own...?? I hate the fact that I have to call someone out and pay probably 1/3 the amount the fridge is really worth. Where can I get this PBA board, and where is it located on the fridge if I were able to repair it myself..??? This will be THE LAST TIME I EVER buy a Samsung product again.
Thanks.

I just did a quick search and found the PBA board here: Rerfrigerator PBA - DA41-00104W for
$90. I think it is worth a try because I believe like you that they will charge 30% of the cost of the unit to fix it. As you have read elsewhere, not everyone gets the frige repaired. Some service companies give up and won't or can't figure out what to do. The frige is really only a little more complex than a plain old non-electronic one.

I would first make sure that the defrost heater is ok first.

If you need more help, you can email me at jay47 at yahoo dot com. If the heater is ok, then we can pursue replacing the board and I can tell you how to get at it. You should download the service manual here: Maytag RS267LASH

Default Samsung evaporator coils freezing

Evaporator coils keep freezing in my unit also (mine may be different model - RS2630SH - but sounds like similar problem) My unit is only 14 months old - both freezer and fridge side will quit cooling - I have manually derfrosted coils but condition reoccurs usually within a week. I have located the heater (at bottom of coils back wall freezer compartment) but am not sure how to remove the heater elements for testing. I have read somewhere online that the only way to get the these heater elements is to buy the whole evaporator coil unit (which doesn't make much sense?). The heating elements look like they can be removed (housed inside a rather cheap looking metal cage / housing device, where the wires / rubber boots connect to each end of the glass enclosed elements) but i'm not sure how to remove the boots / wires from each end. After reading so much of the terrible / poor service / poor advice that Samsung dishes out (not only to consumers but service techs as well), I am reluctant to call in a local appliance repair company for fear of "We'll just replace this part for 300 bucks and if that doesn't work call us back and we'll replace something else for 400 bucks and if that doesn't work etc. etc. ... Evidently SAMSUNG hasn't noticed (or doesn't care) that groceries are expensive these days, and I can't afford to keep throwing mine away. I'm willing to go the "try this first then that next, then that next" approach - if I can find the parts, but only up to a point. Otherwise, I guess I'm going shopping for a new icebox. (seems I recall from my Economics 101 class that refrigerators used to be listed as "durable goods"???? are you listening SAMSUNG??. Thanks for any other advice or input anyone might have.

Here is the parts breakdown
Maytag RS2630SH

And here is the service manual
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...cs/SAM0096.pdf

And a tech bulletin which may also apply
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...0060420002.pdf

The good news is the heater looks like it is a separate unit.
The bad news is the heater is the glass type which are crap
Also the manual is not very good usually electronic units have diagnostics built in but I could not find any in the manual.

Normally I would start diagnosing with the timer, then the heater and then the defrost thermostat. With this unit I would start with the heater often you can see where it burned out but a resistance measurement is the best test

Sorry cannot be much help with the disassembly but have never worked on one of these.

Default fridge warm, freezer ok

I have the same exact problem on my fridge, but my fridge is a samsung twin cooling brand the model looks the same rs263bbsh, I defrosted the evaporator with a fan twice and still it keeps on icing up. I will check on the continuity for the heater element, and if its good, that means its the pba board, just dont know where its located, my manual does not comes with diagram.

Default same problem RS2545SH

I have the Samsung RS2545SH. Same story, this winter the fridge condenser iced up big time. Had to unplug the fridge for 2 days to thaw it out completely. Still having icing problems. Just ran the self diagnosis, no trouble codes. So how do I test the heater ? and looking for part # for the pba board...
