Default Condenser not working at all
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: not sure
Age: 5 - 10 years

My fridge is a side by side, is barely over 5 yrs old and the condenser broke. Is it better to replace the condenser or buy a new fridge? I've already had to throw all my food away, so I don't want this to be an issue in another few years.

Thank you.

How did your condenser brake ? It is tubing and fins. Did you break a line ?

Red face Oops

Oops, I realized that I said it was the condenser and it's the compressor.

I don't know. Just went in to kitchen Sunday evening and water was all over the floor on the freezer side. At first I thought the ice maker broke or was clogged. I took it out and turned the cubes off. Went back about an hour later and found that it wasn't that, but was the food that had thawed. Then checked the fridge side and found that the temp in there was 60 degrees. Tried turning temp down, checked again about 30 mins later and it was getting warmer. That's when I tried moving things that could be salvaged to the deep freeze and a mini fridge in the garage.

Had an appliance repairman out on Tuesday morning and when he took the back panel off, told me the compressor was bad.

My husband passed away in January and he always took care of all the maintenance issues. I was probably supposed to clean it

Thanks for your help!
