Default Condensation between Freezer and Refrigerator
Brand: Amana
Model Number: THI21S3W
Age: More than 10 years

My refrigerator has been condensating between the freezer and refrigerator doors. The area between the doors stays very cold. Is there a heater inside that commonly fails, or is it possible that whatever turns on the heater is malfunctioning.

Any help will be appreciated.

In some unit there is a coolant line that runs between the compartments to stop condensation. The coolant is warmed as it goes through the evaporator coil in the freezer. It then goes through the panel between the freezer and fridge. Some models do have a switch to turn a heater off and on for that purpose. I think it's called energy saving mode when it's off. Now what would cause it to be cold instead of warm if it doesn't have a heater?

If the evaporator coils are iced up(defrost system) that would prevent the transfer of the warmer air to the colder freon in the evaporator so the line going through the wall wouldn't be as warm.

An air leak in the door gasket could cause condensation.
