Default Compressor Very Hot; Discoloring Floor
Brand: Frigidaire
Age: More than 10 years

I had a repairman show up to fix my 10 year old upright. The ice maker does not work and he says it would be around $200 to replace. The water in the door dispensor works fine. He said with the compressor being 'super hot' it would not make sense to put money into it. The floor is being discolored due to the heat, but aren't compressors normally very hot?

They are normally warm, but not very hot. Look under the front of the refrigerator, and see if the coils are not covered in dirt or dog or cat hair. Also pul;l out the refrigerator, and take the back bottom panel off, and make sure the condenser fan motor is turning. It should be moving pretty quick. Also no Ice maker cost $200.00.
