Question Compressor stopped Running (HELP!!)
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: F44R21NG
Age: 5 - 10 years

My compressor stopped running yesterday and all the food in the freezer defrosted. This happened about a month ago but corrected itself after I took the temperature control switch off and tightened a connector. I checked the same switch and the connectors still appear to be tight.

It is a self-defrosting unit. Where is the thermostat(s) and how can I check to see if it (they are) is bad? What else can I check that may keep the compressor from running?

I will stay off to work this problem tomorrow. Thank you in advance for your quick assistance.

Rickey

I have a volt meter. If I take off the Thermostat what volt or resistance reading should I expect and what is the procedure?

Across the Stat U should read the line voltage if the stat is opne and closed it should read nothing(Satisfied state at temp.)
The problem is probably more likely at the compressor or the defrost control.
can you find the schematic of the machine? Probably at the base near the compressor or by the defrost control timer?
Check that area and start there.
I think it may be the start relay on the compressor. Had 2 of em already today.
The compressor must also be tested. Tell me if U find the schematic...
Later
