Default Compressor runs continuously
Brand: Other
Model Number: LG LSC27926
Age: Less than 1 year

Hi Experts..... I just purchased an LG side by side refrigerator (model no LSC27926) a week ago. It seems to work just fine, but I noticed that the compressor does not appear to cycle on and off. It's just continuously runs (albeit almost silently). The fridge/freezer temps are fine, and I don't see any errors on the front digital display. I was wondering if this was a valid problem that I need to follow up with, or I'm just dealing with one of the supposedly new style variable speed compressors that don't actually cycle on/off. There's no reference to that in the refrigerator manual or on LG's website, so I am a little concerned. If you have any insight or common experience with this, I would definitely appreciate your responses. Thanks in advance.

With your thermometer in fridge, run the cold control up all the way. Does the temp go down to near freezing. If so this fridge may be ok. But I would check with the place that sold it to you, and get it checked by warranty service.
If no change, you have serious problems with it.

Hey, thanks for your response, Appguy. I'll turn down the thermostat for the fridge side to the coldest setting and monitor, then post back my results.

Well, I left the freezer @ -2F and lowered the fridge's temp from 37F to 32F. It got colder in there in no time. I hear the unit a little louder sometimes, then a little softer, so I'm still wondering if it is a variable speed compressor that's in the refrigerator.
