Hi, my 5 year old refrigerator stopped working. I can hear the freezer fan and the condenser fan working in the back, as well as a click where the compressor is supplied with energy - a small cubicle white box (relay?). I noticed that in a matter of seconds, the white box becomes hot underneath, when plugged. Even if i keep it plugged, it does not get anywhere... clicks once every 3-5 min.

Is it a bad compressor or only the white box has gone bad? Thanks in advance, Luke

It could be either the relay or the compressor or the capacitor.

It is hard to tell with out testing.

A special test cord is need to test the compressor without the relay.
