Default Common refrig not getting cold enough problem but need advice
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: msd2756GE
Age: 5 - 10 years

I believe that I have a common problem but want to make sure that I don't throw unneeded parts at it. I pulled the defrost heater and a couple things make me think that this might be the problem. The element seemed to have 4 to 5 white burn marks in it there was no cracking and when I checked continunity the reading was 21.1 ohms. What concerns me are 2 or 3 little cracks that look like overheat cracks in the actual freezer compartment. The bit of advice I am seeking is how to test the defrost timer. Is it in the refrig compartment up next to the lights? There was a continuous clicking sound coming from there the other night it did stop but it too has me concerned. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

what you need is the adaptive defrost control. They always go on that product. Don't worry about the heaters, I never had to replace them. Replace the adaptive defrost control, and either take the back of the freezer off where the heater is and defrost it. Or, shut the box down, for 24 hours, with the doors open and let it defrost. If you need me to walk you through the repair, I am at T. PAONE's APPLIANCE SALES & SERVICE GUIDE Tom
