Default Cold Freezer, warm refrigerator
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: TBX25

My freezer compartment on this freezer top model, about 20 years old, is cold, but the fresh food section is very warm, about 60 degrees. There is some frost on the back service of the freezer compartment, but not a lot. I have the fresh food section set to the coldest temp.

Your freezer is not defrosting.

Remove the back panel of the freezer section and you will find that the coils are covered in ice.

In the fridge section find the defrost timer in the control panel.

With the compressor running turn the little knob on the timer until the compressor shut off.

The fridge will now be in the defrost cycle.

Look in the freezer and see if the ice is melting.

If it is you will have to replace the defrost timer.

If it does not defrost you will have the check the heater and the defrost thermostat.

The thermostat can only be tested when it is at operating temperature.

You will need an ohm meter to check them.

Here is a link to your fridge model TBX25.

To order parts you will need your complete model number.

It will be the TBX25 plus 7 more letters. It will be found on a tag in the fridge section on a tag with the serial.

Default Thanks Sheila

Thanks Sheila! Wow its amazing to find that kind of expertise on line here.
I am having trouble finding the defrost knob, but I have just given it a quick look so far.
