Question To Cold
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: HSS25IFMDWW
Age: 1 - 4 years

The fan in the freezer would not come on at times and when it did it was noisy, I installed a new fan and the unit worked fine for two days, with the freezer and the fridge set at # 3. on the third day the unit did not shut off and the freezer went to - 35 and the fridge went to 20 at that time I turned the unit off and unpluged it. The next day I turned it back on and it is doing the same thing. What could be the cause of this unit running all the time and getting super cold.

Because of what you have said about the fan in the freezer working sometimes and not others I have a feeling that the mother board at the back of the fridge may be your problem.

There is a tech sheet located behind the kick plate stuck to the bottom of the fridge or in the control panel in the fridge section.

With the sheet you can run the diagnostic test.

Here is a link to your fridge model HSS25IFMDWW.
