Default Chest Freezer liquid coming from underneath
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 253.8193681
Age: More than 10 years
I noticed liquid coming from under my chest freezer. When I moved it I found about 1/2 gallon of slightly oilly liquid under it. The freezer seems to be working properly. Everything is frozen and the light comes on when I open the lid. What was that liquid and do I need to repair something?

The only oil in the freezer would be in the compressor.

If the compressor had a leak the freezer would not work.

May it be something that got spilled?
