Two weeks ago are ice began to taste like dirt. We installed a Sears filter on the water line ... it only got worse. then the H2O pitcher in the fridge began to taste the same. We did a little test with our fridge in the garage ... were A OK there.

Yesterday the smell got worse so we cleaned frige top to bottom and cleaned all the dust bunnies behind the paper dust pannel. The smell isn't getting any worse but we had to shut down the ice maker and I'm kinda concerned about the food taking on some type of harmful chemical

I'm not sure what would be causing the smell, there is nothing in the fridge or freezer containing chemicals.

The seal system contain 134A which is a refrigerant but it is in a sealed system.

If the system had a leak the fridge would not cool.

It may be something in your water.
