Default Buzzing every few minutes
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FRS26R4CQ0
Age: 1 - 4 years

About 1 month ago I started having this buzzing for about a day, and during that day I noticed that the temp began to rise in both the freezer, and the fridge, but it stopped, and I had not thought about is since.

Today it started again. The frequency of the buzzing is every 2-4 minutes and lasts approx. 15-20. After doing a little investigating, the source of the buzzing appears to be the Starter-PTC.

Is this a part that commonly fails after only 4 years in service?

Am I right that this part would cause a buzzing?

Thanks for any help.

You need to replace the start relay as soon as possible, all the hard starting may damage the compressor windings.
Just go to partselect.com for proper start relay.

Thank you for the quick response.

I have placed an order for the Starter-PTC, PartSelect item # 428551. Hope that is the right part.

The part came in and the buzzing stopped, so I did not make the repair. Today the buzzing started again, and I replaced the Starter-PTC, and I still have the buzzing.

Could it be the capacitor mounted on the Starter-PTC?

Assuming you put the part in correctly, you probably have damaged start windings or a gummed up compressor=new compressor time.
