Default Burnt smell and no cooling and clicking
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: Model GD55HAXLBO2
Age: 1 - 4 years

I walked in last night and my wife said our fridge had made some snaping noise and smelt burnt wires. I pulled the unit out and vaccumed some dust. The fan was not running. I could not see any burnt wires. A clicking noise came every 10 min or so after I rolled it back in place. The food started defrosting - the inside fan of freezer was still running. This morning I disconnected it.
Tonight I connected it back and observe the fan running and not sure if it is cooling or not. Will know in the morning.

Replaced the Start-Dev and the unit came right on and began cooling;
30 minutes or so - all stop - nothing
Compressor hot to touch and fan not working;
Unplugged unit - waited 5 min - replugged and everything comes back on working again - but again only for 15 min or so - then all stop;
Any ideas?

Space, what I would do is put on a hard start kit. The part # is RCO410. What you do is take of all the componentry off the compressor, and wire the hard start ket in. Black is common, white is start, and red is run. Then cut the two wires that are coming to the relay on the compressor, and wire one to the stripped black wire, and the other wire to the stripped black wire. Then lay the hard start kit down beside the compressor, and plug it in. Follow the picture on the part package as to where common, start, and run is. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
