Red face Burning smell coming from Frig and Freezer
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FRS22ZR
Age: 5 - 10 years

HELP!!!!! There is a strange BURNING PLASTIC smell coming from the appliance. I have noticed that the defroster is glowing red in the back of the freezer at times and is NOT defrosting any more than 6 inches up past the bottom shelf of freezer. I have moved things around inside the freezer several times to no avail. (thought it might have to do with air flow). Ice-Cream does not freeze, just stays soft. Ice machine started malfunctioning around this time also. Can't use the ice or put any unsealed foods in unit because they end up tasting like the smell smells (Make sense?). HELP!!!!!

Be careful there. Unplug it for 24 hours and see if the ice will go away (behind the cover), if not - you have a defrost system problem
