Side-by-side R/F. About a month ago the fridge was running but sounded different. Every thing was cool that needed to be cool and everything that needed frozen was frozen. About two weeks ago I opened the freezer for the next meal and everything was thawing quickly. (Transferred food to garage fridge.) The motor or compressor sounded as if it was running (still different sound). Is there a check for "no freon" or a thermostat problem? I have a manifold set for refrigeration in an auto air conditioner.

If the compressor runs it is possible there is a leak in the system.

Before you attach the manifold set to the fridge you should check the laws in your area.

Also if your fridge has 134A refrigerant it can not be mixed with any other type so if the manifold set you have has been use with R12 do not use it.
