We purchase a home in May 2007 and the previous owners left the black Amana SxS frig. Everything works fine including the ice maker. However, the ice will not dispense at all. The water works although the filter light is on and that needs to be replaced (part number for this is needed too). When we open the freezer door there is frost built up on the hole leading to the chute. My husband is very handy and can most likely replace the broken part if only we knew what part to order. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Cleaning all the parts involved may let it seal better and stop the frost from forming.

Do I have this right? It will not dispense ice but there is ice in the bin. Does the augur turn when button is pushed. can you hear the motor behind the back cover behind the bin which turns the augur. Here are some diagrams and parts to look at.

The ice maker works fine - it makes ice and there is no ice build up in the bin. When we press the ice cube button on the door the motor does engage. Actually, if we open the freezer door and press the button to simulate the door being closed ... then press the ice cube button - the auger will rotate, ice will dispense from the ice bin and shoot out. However, if the door is closed and we try the ice cube button - the ice cubes jam up in the chute. It seems that the plastic flap/door that opens to allow the ice cubes to dispense into a glass doesn't work. We have another side by side in our basement (GE) and when we check the operation of the ice dispenser the ice chute flap/door opens when the ice cube button is pressed. From all the diagrams provided I can't tell exactly what part needs to be ordered.

Thanks! I just ordered the part along with a new water filter, and chute door (since I broke it last night). I'll write back and let you know the results.
