Default Amana (Maytag) fridge noise
Brand: Amana
Model Number: arb2259cs
Age: 5 - 10 years

There are several posts about refrigerator noise so I replaced my overload relay a week ago (piece that goes in the compressor). My Amana fridge is still making a buzzing noise (about 10 seconds worth) right before I here a loud click. Other then the loud buzzing noise and the click the fridge works fine. it just clicks and buzzes every few minutes. Any suggestions??

I take that back, now the freezer just defrosted, my ice is water now and i think the fridge area is not far behind.

It sound like the defrost timer has failed.

I the fridge section locate the timer in the control panel.

Turn the knob between the two screws holding the timer in place.

The timer is number 12 in the control breakdown.

Here is a link to your fridge model arb2259cs.

Replace the ptc relay on the side of the compressor, it's probably bad.

I replaced the overload relay, that is the only thing plugged into the side of the compressor, is that the same thing as this ptc relay?

There is no overload relay. There may be a box there that contains the overload klixon and ptc start relay.

It is shown on the parts breakdown for your fridg. Just crunch in the model # in partselect and check. Might be listed as a start/overload device.

Your relay overload is number 10 on the compressor breakdown.

The part number is PS51692.

I spoke too soon, I have the same noise, just took a day or two for it to come back. So far I have replaced the overload relay and the defrost thermostat timer, and $50 later I got nothing
