Default Amana Issue
Brand: Amana
Model Number: SXV26VL
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a SXV26VL and yesterday my daughter left the freezer door adjar before we left for 4 hours and when we came back it had the exact same symptoms as described in the thread below "no cooling,no freezing, no water in the door". We emptied the freezer, cooled the compressor with a fan, this morning I plugged it in and its running. Funny, the water dispenser didnt work last night but is fine this morning, any further ideas? After letting it run today, it started, made a tray of ice seemed to be coming up to temp but then seems to take a break, I cant find the manual but I think its a defrost cycle, the rear fan stays running but the compressor takes a break and hasnt made ice since, there is frost on the freezer fins, and is there a fan inside somewhere?, if there is its not working, thanks

Well, I bench tested the evap fan and it worked, turns out these models use the Defrost thermometer to complete the circut for the fan (clipped on the top of the condenser), anyway, I replaced the switch and so far so good, It was cooling, just not circulating.
