Default Amana fridge evap mtr
Brand: Please select
Model Number: smd22tbw
Age: 5 - 10 years

i put a new evap motor in the firdge and it worked just for a little while.. It seems I have voltage than I dont or not enough voltage. Is this a common problem in the amana fridges??? The cond motor and compressor r getting voltage and they work good. just the evap motor works than doesnt work.

Is it the thermostat or defrost mechnism??????

thanks jpg

Is the unit still cooling to the proper temp.

The evaporator fan cuts off when the preset temp is reached and also when the freezer goes into automatic defrost which is two to three times a day for 20 to 30 minutes each time.

The compressor and condenser fan also cut off during defrost so you may still have an evaporator fan problem.

Here's your defrost timer. I suppose it could be causing your problem if it's defective.

The defrost timer is usually found behind the front grill of the freezer. It may also be found behind a cover plate inside the freezer, in the temperature control console, or behind the freezer near the compressor.

To test whether the defrost timer is simply failing to advance, locate the advance screw and turn it clockwise until you hear it click. This advances it to the next mode. If it was cooling before, it is now in defrost mode. Simply wait about 35 minutes and check whether it has left defrost mode and has resumed cooling (listen for the compressor). If it does not advance, the timer motor is probably bad and the entire timer needs to be replaced.
