Unhappy ADC Jumps out of Manual Defrost Cycle
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FLSC238DS9
Age: 1 - 4 years

Continuing to have defrost problems even though heater element and defrost thermostat have checked OK. When unit is put into manual defrost mode by pressing the proper freezer and fresh food button sequence the unit goes into defrost but comes out of it automatically in about 6 minutes. My understanding is that you have to take the unit out of defrost manually if you put it in manually. Also, no defrost occurs in any case. Thanks.

Defrost thermostat is there to stop the defrost even when you turn it on manually.
If it was not like that, suppose you turned on defrost manually and forgot about it, your fridge would turn into an oven and catch fire eventually, the defrost termination is automatic even when you start defrost manually.

Defrost stat is still cold and circuit is closed. Something else is causing the problem. Thanks for your response.

You have a blown adaptive defrost pc board in the fridg. section. I would test for defrost current when you force defrost. If none you have a bad defrost thermostat or heater.Best to replace everything,
