Default Adaptive defrost problem
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MDS2556
Age: 5 - 10 years

My side by side Maytag with adaptive defrost is not defrosting. According to some info I found online, If the test and L1 pins on the defrost board are shorted the unit should go into defrost mode, and it did. So the defrost heater is good. Could the board still be bad or could it be something else?

The adaptive defrost control is faulty.

Can you please verify your model number?

Your model number can be found in the fridge section on a tag with the serial number.

The model number is MSD2556AEA. I found some other info about changing some parts on the board. I do not remember where I found it and am not sure how reliable it is.

You are likely better off to replace the whole control.

Here is a link to your fridge model MSD2556AEA.

Here is the control.
