We have a Whirpool model # RF364PXYN-3. We were using the oven a few days ago and a ceramic disk fell out of the top surface of the oven. This is an electric range. The ceramiic disk is aproximately 1.5 inches in diameter and about a half an inch thich. It has serveral holes in it whcih makes it look like a honeycomb. I tried to push the disk back up into it's orginal location but didn't want to chance breaking it.

My question is, what is this disk? And what does it do? Thanks

The disk that fell out is part of the vent tube.

If it will not stay in place it may be that the tube itself is rusted.

You can use the oven with out the disk.
