Unhappy Whirlpool Door doesn't close completely
Brand: Please select
Model Number: RS675PXGQ6
Age: 5 - 10 years

The door will not close all the way on our Whirlpool Oven. Door open message appears.
I called a repairman. He said it would need some shims. Also I damaged the latch assembly trying to pull up on and close the door.
He was supposed to order the part and come out today to install it and the shims.
Now they tell me didn't order the part. I would like to order the part and install it myself.
How do I install a shim?
Also how do I get to the latch assembly?

Thanks,

Joedan

I repaired the latch assembly but I still don't know how to install the shims.

Default oven door wont close

My oven door also won't close. it is a kitchenaide KERC507HBS1. i had the hinges replaced and it still won't close all the way, the open door light goes on and off, preventing the convection from working. Do I need to replace the hinges again or try something else?

Thanks so much.

If u replaced the hinges already than yes u need the shim kit. If u havent replaced the hinges that will fix it 90 percent of the time. What I do is I get 2 screwdrivers open the door fully and put the screw drivers on the bottom of the door than close it, put some force on the top of the door that will bend the door hinge slightly and it will close much tighter. works good............jpg
