Default What Does "HE" code mean?
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: C970-440892
Age: 1 - 4 years

This range has electronic digital surface element controls. Each digital readout for the surface elements is displaying an HE code when the element should be off. Normally, the digital readout - when the element is off - is blank. There is no code in the oven control panel.

The only code that I have seen to date (and it is mentioned in the manual) is "PF" for a power failure.

The elements all seem to function correctly. The manual does not mention this code.

Anyone know what it means?
How do I clear it from the windows (shows for each burner)?

Thanks

Update...
Determined that stove is manufactured by Frigidaire in USA for Sears Canada. Frigidaire website reports that the "HE" code indicates a "Hot Element".

Doesn't explain why this code shows all the time - even when burners have been off for hours. Otherwise, stove works perfectly!

Thought. As this code is not in the Kenmore user manual (This Kenmore has hot element lights on the cooktop; the Frigidaire models do not) it suggests - at least to me - that this is not a normally implemented code for a Kenmore. Question: what brought it out of hiding? Is it a warning of?
