Default Top Replacement Sheila Help!
Brand: Jenn-Air
Model Number: JGS 9900BDS
Age: Less than 1 year

Yes I did it, wow it is expensive, but I'm in hot water, or without boiling hot water until I replace the top. I've read the post regarding your procedure to replace the glass top, but it seems like the glass is glued with adhesive to the top of the range. My thought is to slice through the bond with a putty knive and pry the top off, is that right? I don't see any screws that hold the top down, Help Sheila! Thanks again for this forum

The glass is mounted on a frame that will come with the new glass.

Here is a link to your range model JGS9900BDS.

To replace the top you will have to slide the range out from the installed position.

Turn the gas off and unplug the range.

Disconnect the downdraft blower.

Raise the range enough to clear the cabinetry.

Slide the range out.

Remove the screws securing the side trim pieces to the oven chassis.

Gently grasp the trim piece with both hands and pull forward and roll the trim piece off the retainer clips.

Remove th air grill, grill grates and filter.

Remove the screws securing the top burner assembly to the lower burner assembly.

Label and disconnect the wire terminals to the ignitors.

Remove the perimeter screws securing the main top to the chassis.

Gently lift the main top away from the chassis.

Reverse the procedure to reinstall the maintop assembly.
