Default Temperature inaccurate
Brand: Jenn-Air
Age: 1 - 4 years

We had a Jenn-Air Electric Wall-Oven (JMW9530CAW) installed in our new home about 4 years ago. It has been little used, didn't cook very well, and we finally bought a temperature guage that shows a temperature level about 80 degrees less than the Jenn-Ċir guage shows. I'm trying to find the right part to replace the oven's temperature control. The Jenn-Air part software shows a "thermostat Hi-Limit Series 10" but the numbered diagram gives no reference to what the numbers mean and the description is so limited it's impossible to tell. Anyone have any help?
Thanks, Richard

The hi-limit thermostat is used to cut the circuit if the temperature gets to high.

The series 10 refers to the serial number.

The problem in your oven is either the temperature sensor or the clock/control.

To check the oven sensor you will need an ohm meter.

The sensor should read 1100 ohms at room temperature. About 75 degrees.

If the sensor check to be good you will have to replace the clock/control.

Here is a link to your oven model JMW9530CAW.

Here is the oven sensor.

Here is the clock/control.

Much appreciate this information and will proceed to try to determine which is the problem and find a local person to make the changes needed.

The installation stories seem very useful. The first one (Robert of NM) is the only one that mentions having to deal with a microwave component, but he does not specify the exact oven. We do have a microwave over the oven; our unit is identified: JMW 9530CAW. The story that uses that exact model number does NOT say anything about dealing with a microwave as part of this repair (so perhaps--probably--the unit is sold with and without Micro?). Can I communcate with Robert or is there some other way to learn the exact model number of his oven?

Richard

I checked all the Robert(s) on the members' list without finding one who was dealing with temperature problems on the wall oven. Meanwhile I viewed more carefully what I can see inside the oven itself and note that the temperature sensor (as far as I can tell) is a rod that protrudes 5 1/2 inches into the upper left part of the oven chamber. Is it that rod that the suggested part (PS 46173) is to replacement?
I've not yet been able to have it ohm tested.
Thanks for your patience !!
Richard

Either repair is not hard.

To check the sensor turn the power off to your oven.

Take the screws out holding the sensor in( the rod that is 5 1/2 inches long) and unplug the harness.

You could take this to a repair shop and have them check it for you if you don't have a meter.

To install a new one reverse the procedure.

To replace the timer you will have to remove the control panel.
