Default Spark igniter won't stop
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 911 7360190
Age: More than 10 years

My stove has a safety feature that will spark by itself if the flame is disturbed by drafts ( such as the ceiling fan) especially if the flame is on low. About 7 years old the stove attempted to relight itself more and more frequently and I finally had to disconnect the power to the spark module. I replaced the spark module but the problem did not go away. I have been lighting my stove with a lighter for the last 7 years. Please help.
By the way, how does the stove sense the flame is being disturbed?

Ken

If you replaced the spark module, and it still does it. It could very well be a lost ground. What I would do is get an extention cord, and plug the oven into a different plug, on a different breaker, and see what happens. I have had that problem before at a customers house, and it drove me crazy. Also check the individual spark ignitors for each burner. Sometimes you have a spill over on the ignitor, and that could cause the same problem. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
