Question Smooth Top Range
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 695.xxxx2000
Age: 5 - 10 years

Successfully installed a replacement heating element for a 6 year old Kenmore smooth top range. However, the light that indicates smooth top surface is still hot remains lit. I replaced the LF element, but it is the rear left element light that remains lit. I power cycled the range. The light still remains lit.

Any tips or tricks

Was this happening before you replaced your element?

Default Replace Element

The Front Left element was not working and then the Left Rear element stopped working a short time later. I ordered parts from PartsSelect. While awaiting delivery, I did a continuity test on both elements. Front Left element failed while Left Rear element passed.

I replaced Front Left element and because Left Rear element passed, I decided to test both burners after replacing Front Left element only. Both burners work great, but when I shut them down the light that indicates surface area is still hot, remained lit for Left Rear element and has stayed lit for days. I power cycled the stove and it did not clear condition. I suspect temp sensor on Left Rear element, but that seems strange to me.
