The oven on my gas range stopped working. The broiler, self clean, and burners all function. The electricity had been shut off to the kitchen the day before it quit working - could that possibly have anything to do with it? I've read postings that suggest an ignitor and/or valve, but am not sure how to determine which.

Does the igniter spark when you turn the oven on?

Do you smell gas?

Sheila, sorry it took so long to respond! To answer your questions, no, the igniter did not spark when we turned the oven on, and no, there was no smell of gas. We decided then it must be the igniter, and replaced it. Now our oven works great again. Even though the part cost fifty dollars, it would have been so much more if we'd called in a repair person.

Thanks so much for your help!!!
