When turning on the stove the igniter glows but the safety gas valve (propane) does not actuate. If you tap on the valve it will open and the oven will ignite. It will continue to do so as long as you do not turn if off. If you start the cycle over by turning the oven off you have to tap the valve to get it started.

I wanted to know if the valve is dirty or if it malfunctioning and has to be replaced.

the gas valve is controlled by the igniter.
even though your igniter glows, it is not creating enough current(mA) to open the gas valve.

you need to replace the igniter.

if in doubt, you can measure the current (mA) output of the igniter with a clamp-on ammeter. you need to have around 3.2mA. The exact trip point is located on the gas valve.
