Default Resistance is futile!
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MER6772BAW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Previously, I sent a question regarding the ohm measurement on a dual element burner (glasstop). The outer read 74 Ohms, which was over the range of acceptable. Is this off enough that the outside part of the burner never gets hot, even for a short period. Is there any way to measure voltage to the burner while it's on? Basically to make sure that it isn't wiring or something else other than the element. Thanks!

The 74 ohm reading is not that high.

Are you taking the reading right at the element?

You can measure the voltage at the switch with a voltmeter.

Set the meter on 240v or higher.

Connect the leads to the H1 and H2 and check on high, medium, and low settings.

It should show 240 volts on all three setting.

If it does not replace the switch.
