Default Replacing Cooktop Switch
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: kecc502gbl3
Age: 5 - 10 years

The step for the knob on one of the switches on my cooktop (KitchenAid model KECC502GBL3) snapped off. I assume the whole switch will need to be swapped. (it needed to be swapped anyway because it only went to hi even if set to low) Is this do-able? and how do you access under the glasstop? i dont see any fasteners from the bottom. do you access by lifting the glasstop?

And what part number do i need - looking at the schematics it looks like there are several parts listed under "7".

Is there a repair manual that can be found?

Thanks in advanced.
Augie

The switch is replaceable but you will have to take the cook top out of the installed position and remove the bottom to replace the switch.

If the switch is for a single element it will be part number PS339377.

If the switch is for a duel element it will be part number PS972607.

Here is a link to your cook top model kecc502gbl3.

Sheila-
Thank you very much for the information. I appreciate the quick response.

just 2 questions:

1. can I confirm the part number? you wrote:

but the link has PS972602.

2. do i need to install a gasket when i put the cooktop back into the counter? if so, is there a part number for that?

Thanks again,
Augie

Sorry yes it should have been PS972602.

I can't find a number for the gasket that seal the cook top to the counter hopefully you can reuse the old one.

If not you may want to call Kitchen-aid and see if they can supply a part number.

There is one seal listed part number listed on the breakdown but it does not give any description of the part.

The part number is PS988177.
