 Replacement of glass cooktop Brand: Maytag Model Number: MER6770AAC Age: 5 - 10 years
I dropped a casserole bowl on my Maytag Gemini ceramic cooktop and shattererd it. I know that I have to replace the entire piece and that it comes in a frame (mine is black in a chrome frame) for a little of $300 plus shipping.
My question is can I order the replacement top and do the installation myself? It looks like I could unscrew the top from inside the top oven and get the old one off and the new one on fairly easily. I have had a quote that included installation of almost $600. Considering the cost of the part, it appears this repairman is charging me over $200 to do the replacement. |
